- On February 9th, 2017, DT lashed out at Senator Blumenthal on Twitter, saying that he had "misrepresented" Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch when the senator said that Gorsuch found DT's tweets attacking a federal judge, particularly referring to him as a "so-called judge," demoralizing and disheartening. In the same tweet, he attacked Blumenthal for lying about serving in Vietnam. This is a long standing non-controversy on the right, referring to edited video that appears to show Blumenthal saying he served in Vietnam, when what he said was that he served in the military during the Vietnam era.
- On February 9th, 2017, a little over an hour later, DT then targeted CNN journalist Chris Cuomo for not asking Blumenthal about the Vietnam issue. Cuomo did ask Blumenthal about the misleading statements in the interview last night, and again, Blumenthal did not lie about being in Vietnam.
- On February 9th, 2017, just minutes after DT accused Chris Cuomo of not asking Senator Blumenthal about his Vietnam remarks, Cuomo fired back on Twitter and on national television that, indeed, he had done so, and had the tape to prove it, saying that DT was "once again off the facts."
- On February 9th, 2017, CNN, among other outlets, confirmed that Gorsuch spokesman Ron Bonjean did, indeed, use those words in his meeting with Blumenthal.
- On February 9th, 2017, about an hour after DT tweet tantrum, Senator Chris Murphy, also of Connecticut, took to Twitter to blast DT in a quote RT saying, "As a prosecutor, Dick [Blumenthal] used to put guys like u in jail." We now have a full on old school internet flame war involving members or potential members of all 3 branches of the Federal Government. I've said that I'm tired of hearing "this is not normal" as opposed to "this is not ok," but this is both not normal and, honestly, kind of hilarious.
- On February 9th, 2017, Senator Blumenthal took back to Twitter to say that Neil Gorsuch now "must publicly & explicitly condemn" DT's attack on the judiciary.
- On February 9th, 2017, not content to call out Blumenthal for a misleading comment about his military service or perhaps just on a roll, DT tweeted minutes later attacking Senator John McCain as a loser, bringing back his campaign rhetoric that DT likes guys who win not guys who get captured, and then went on to say that General Mattis said the Yemen mission in which a Navy SEAL and an 8-year-old girl were killed, that multiple sources have said was a disaster carried out without collecting sufficient intelligence first was a "winning mission." McCain had said on February 2nd, 2017, that General Mattis would not have encouraged the raid, though reports indicate that Mattis was present for a discussion about it at a dinner a few hours before the raid, though other sources have said DT had already made the decision and informing Mattis at dinner was pro forma.
- On February 9th, 2017, a few hours after Senator Murphy's tweet insinuating DT should be in jail, Senator McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain went off on DT, as well, pointing out that he had never served, while her father has lasting physical injuries from the time he spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
- On February 9th, 2017, the New York Daily News reported that a white supremacist extremist was arrested for possession of ricin after he drove himself to the hospital after exposure to the deadly toxin. It is unclear how he obtained the toxin or what his intentions were for its use.
- On February 9th, 2017, a federal appeals court unanimously objected to DT's appeal to overturn the restraining order temporarily blocking the executive order banning entry to the US by visa holders from 7 majority Muslim nations. DT responded by taking to Twitter to announce in all caps that he would "SEE YOU IN COURT!" It is not clear who he means by "you," but he will, indeed, be seeing someone in court.
- On February 9th, 2017, CNN reported that federal judges who have placed an injunction against DT's executive order banning entry to the US by visa holders from 7 majority Muslim nations have had to increase their personal security in response to threats to their safety egged on by DT's angry tweets against the federal courts.
- On February 9th, 2017, Kellyanne Conway went on Fox and Friends to hawk Ivanka Trump's brand in response to a question about DT's tweet disparaging Nordstrom for dropping her line. Conway is in violation of federal ethics laws. Later today, Sean Spicer said that Conway had been "counseled" about her comments. It is unclear whether DT has been, as well. Democrats are calling for an ethics investigation into Conway. The ethics website for the Federal Government was accessed so many times since Conway's appearance that it has gone offline due to excessive traffic.
- On February 9th, 2017, US veterans began mobilizing for a second trip to stand with water protectors at Standing Rock to block the Dakota Access Pipeline and uphold the treaties that make the pipeline illegal.

- On February 9th, 2017, Reuters also reported that, in his unrecorded telephone call with dictator Vladimir Putin, DT had to ask an aid what the details were of an Obama era nuclear weapons treaty between the US and Russia, then told Putin that the terms of the treaty favored Russia. DT also bragged to Putin about his popularity, despite being the earliest to hit a more than 50% disapproval rating since the advent of polling.
- On February 9th, 2017, the secretary of the Marquette County republican party in Michigan who suggested that protesters just needed another Kent State massacre stepped down.
- On February 9th, 2017, Indiana republicans began dismantling the disastrous policies of Mike Pence now that the former governor is in Washington. While several of Pence's policies negatively impacted the state, possibly the worst was his refusal to support needle exchange programs for intravenous drug users and his defunding Planned Parenthood (which provides free and low cost HIV tests), thus coupling his state's heroin crisis with a preventable HIV crisis.
- On February 9th, 2017, a Hitler themed valentine apparently "magically appeared" at a college republicans valentine exchange at Central Michigan University, as none of the attendees will claim responsibility, and all of them have half heartedly denounced the card while repeatedly insisting that Nazism is not something that their group supports, believes, or finds funny.

It is unclear what new crimes will be suggested or how already stiff penalties would be increased.
- On February 9th, 2017, DT signed an executive order expanding the powers of law enforcement officials to fight international criminal organizations, including assessing immigration laws to see how they can be reformed to block entry to the US by potential criminals or used to identify undocumented immigrants. This is another direct threat on immigrants, documented or otherwise, under the guise of national security. The order would also seek to create a new wasteful War on Drugs.
- On February 9th, 2017, DT signed an executive order tasking the Attorney General, sworn in just moments before, to create a Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety. The task force's duty would be to identify ways in which existing laws are not harsh enough to deter crime and to suggest new legislation to fight violent crime, despite the fact that crime is at an historic low when compared to the 1980s and 1990s. Taken as a group, these executive orders seem to be laying the ground for a police state, and seem to be a targeted reaction to recent movements and organizations protesting police violence and calling for law enforcement reform.
- On February 9th, 2017, thousands gathered at republican Representative Jason Chavetz's town hall meeting to "to question the conservative congressman's stance on repealing the Affordable Care Act, his refusal to have the House Oversight Committee that he leads investigate President Donald Trump's potential conflicts of interest or Russian influence on the election, and his push to transfer or sell public lands."
