- On February 5th, 2017, after Fox News tweeted a teaser of their interview with DT in which he compared the US to Putin's Russia, politicians on the left and the right disavowed the comparison. Even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who is known to change his stance on any particular issue as long as it benefits him (see: blocking a SCOTUS nominee), made a lukewarm reprisal of the statement. Marco Rubio, who has recently only exhibited a sense of decency when making scathing criticisms of Putin, previously during Rex Tillerson's confirmation hearing, while still going on to vote for him, expressed outrage, as well.

- On February 5th, 2017, Mike Pence subbed for DT on the Sunday morning news show rounds while DT is on holiday. Pence continued the gaslighting of the American people by entirely reframing and spinning statements made by DT. Among the items that he spun this morning were that DT's attack on the Federal Judge who blocked the executive order banning entry to the US by visa holders from 7 majority Muslim nations were legitimate criticism of another branch of government, that DT's continued admiration of Putin and comments that America is full of killers and is not that innocent was just an expression of his DT's determination to work with Russia, that the reason for possible lifting of sanctions on Russia would be to combat ISIS, and that the travel ban is on "solid constitutional ground." Pence is a born again evangelical Christian, but it is unclear if he is aware that lying is a sin.

- On February 5th, 2017, the LA Times reported that residents of Mexico are puzzled by DT's hateful rhetoric surrounding the border. Among other statements, particularly about American citizens who live in Tijuana but commute to California for school or work, residents interviewed said they don't think DT even knows what the border is, given that there is already a wall in place.
- On February 5th, 2017, CNBC reported that the Trump brand is taking a hit from the negative publicity surrounding DT's disastrous administration and hateful campaign. Ivanka Trump's brand, in particular, has been dropped by two major luxury retailers, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, in light of poor sales.
- On February 5th, 2017, Senator Bernie Sanders, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, called DT "a fraud" for moving to overturn financial protections instated after the 2008 financial crisis, despite his claims that he was going to clean up Wall Street. It is unclear whether DT has heard about this, as of 8:41 PM he has not tweeted angrily at Senator Sanders.
- On February 5th, 2017, Representative Nancy Pelosi called on the FBI to investigate whether reports that the Russian government has compromising intelligence on DT are true. In recent weeks, several Russian cybersecurity experts have been arrested, creating speculation that they were involved in the DNC hacks that may or may not have taken place with DT's knowledge or at his more official behest beyond calling for Russia to hack Secretary Clinton at his last press conference during the campaign.
- On February 5th, 2017, White House advisor and noted spouter of "alternative facts," Kellyanne Conway, said that the leaks of DT's disastrous phone calls with the President of Mexico and Prime Minister of Australia presented an unflattering picture of the two foreign leaders, and not DT.
- On February 5th, 2017, the New York Post reported that travelers from the 7 majority Muslim nations banned from entering the US by DT's executive order were "scrambling" to fly to the US after the ban was lifted by the Federal Courts but before DT manages to appeal the decision. Several of the travelers profiled were being treated for severe medical problems, students, or simply long-term US residents planning to bring family members back from visits abroad.
- On February 5th, 2017, a swastika and the word "TRUMP" were discovered scrawled onto a statue of Rice University founder William Marsh Rice in the center of the college's quad. According to Fast Forward, it is the third act of racist vandalism at the school this month. It is the 5th day of this month.
- On February 5th, 2017, also in Houston, hundreds attended a second anti-Trump protest outside the Super Bowl. It was the second consecutive day that demonstrators gathered outside the NRG Stadium to protest DT and his policies.
- On February 5th, 2017, approximately 2,000 protestors gathered in sub-freezing temperatures at a rally in Buffalo, New York's Columbus Park, to protest DT's executive order known as the "Muslim ban."
- On February 5th, 2017, hundreds marched in downtown Los Angeles against DT's executive order to fast-track resumption of construction on the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines.
- On February 5th, 2017, White House advisor and noted spouter of "alternative facts," Kellyanne Conway lashed out on Fox News on Sunday morning after being roundly mocked for inventing the Bowling Green Massacre to justify DT's so-called "Muslim ban." It is not the first time that Conway has blamed the media, Twitter, and anyone who can hear or read for her own "mistakes."
- On February 5th, 2017, DT fans on Twitter began calling for a boycott of Budweiser after they released their Super Bowl ad online this past Tuesday, which DT supporters view as "pro-immigrant" and a rebuttal to DT's executive order banning entry to the US for visa holders from 7 majority Muslim nations. The ad shows the struggles of the brand's co-founder, Adolphus Busch, faced as a German immigrant to the US in the 1800s. DT's grandfather, Friederich Drumpf, was a German immigrant.
- On February 5th, 2017, a few dozen DT supporters held a rally in front of Trump Tower, several holding professionally printed signs. Previous anti-Trump protests have been banned from getting within a block of the building, including the New York Women's March the day after the inauguration, attended by half a million people. It is unclear if any of the "protesters" were paid, though DT has paid a similar number to applaud at his press conferences and at his speech at the CIA headquarters, angering many long time agents and officials of the bureau. Given DT's predilection for throwing accusations at his opponents for actions he is guilty of taking, the permitted proximity to the building, and the professionally printed signs, the rally's authenticity is understandably suspicious.
- On February 5th, 2017, the New York Times reported that Ajit Pai, appointed as chair to the Federal Communications Commission, has been quietly targeting regulations that protect net neutrality while more attention is focused on DT's more sweeping and disastrous policy initiatives and executive orders.
- On February 5th, 2017, DT continued to lash out on Twitter at the Federal Courts and to demonstrate his entire lack of knowledge in regard to US immigration law by insisting that potential terrorists were flooding into the country in light of his unconstitutional Muslim ban being lifted by a restraining order issued by a Washington state Federal Judge. He then told everyone to enjoy the Super Bowl after which he would resume his plan to take the United States back to the 1890s.
